First Crazy Quilt block

This is the picture of my first crazy quilt block. Melissa taught me how to do every bit of it and we had fun sewing together. I love it. I am making more of them for a sampler quilt of all the first techniques that I learn. Everything on this block is pretty much new for me. The Spiderweb roses I had tried a long time ago but didn't really understand how to do it that well. I had never even heard of seam treatments and I found the white one in a book by Judith Baker Montano. Probably more than half the beads Melissa just gave to me to help me get going. I had a great time going to Walmart with her to look for more fun stuff. The bead and sequins seam treatment was from an old shirt I had that I never wore. I love the sweetheart roses so much because they are so pretty and so easy to do. I also learned the French knots and the Colonial knots which are both so amazingly easy. The whole thing really surprisingly easy with a few helpful tips and practice runs. Well hello to all those crazy quilters in blogland. Thank you for all your encouragement.
