No More TV

This is Joseph enjoying some crashes by stunt bike riders on the internet. Yes, (in case you were wondering) it takes a lot to make my husband laugh. But when it is funny enough he will laugh.

We got rid of the television. We can still watch videos and DVDs and then there is the internet. But we decided that the cable had to go. One of the reasons is that my husband and I have decided to work really hard to get out of debt. Once the car is paid off this will be much easier than it seems now. The other reason is that we as a family spend far to much time in front of the tv. We feel that it is hindering Joseph's creativity. Anyway, that is that. One day we may get it back, but for now we are doing stuff that we always said we were going to do "one of these days." I am really glad. I thought I would hate it but I don't.

Oh, he got the giggles - must've been good stuff!! We've been "off" cable for 2 years. Before that we had went with basic and then eliminated it all together. very hard for my football loving family this time of year - but we make due. ESPN does a good job with the play by plays!! And the bunny ears are still working :) We also got rid of our cell phones over a year ago!! We, too, are determined to get out of debt! Next up..how to cut down on the cost of gas. Uggh...

Good for you! We get a few channels with the antenna (& now digital converter box since analog tv's won't work soon). It's amazing how little we miss cable. These days, it's so easy to get news & sports online.

In the winter when the evenings are long, it's nice to cozy up in the living room & read a book together. A good change from having the tv on all the time. A recent fave..."Charlie & the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl.
