Not even a fraction of the lovely wildflowers we got this year. This is just one field of yellow ones. We also got tons of purple, orange, and white ones too. I am positive that it was because of the large amount of snow we had this last winter.

It is kind of strange how in this picture you can see under their feet the yucky tumble weeds (which are a painful source of stickers if you touch them) and the harsh, dead, sandy dirt. And yet, in this environment where it is hard to grow anything, we see thousands and thousands of wildflowers. It's like, "Surprise from God." Even in the desert, He wants to show His presence. I love this picture of the kids and can only imagine their expressions. (Please excuse the manure pile, this is someones private property. haha) I am far from the best parent and I pray that I do better each day, and so I stopped and let the kids enjoy the flowers for a little while. They ran and picked and really had a great time. Then we went to a man-made lake (about 20 minutes away) and enjoyed a nice day at the beach. We did other things that day as well and we just enjoyed each other's company.

We had a neighbor in San Diego who made snowmen from tumbleweeds! I know what you mean about flowers in the desert; I feel that way when I see cactus flowers too! Nice you have some time with the kids now as I suspect you'll be pretty busy come June?
So nice to be able to get out and enjoy the outdoors! Love the wildflowers! I can hardly wait for flowers around here.
